Why we fix the board first
Most of the exterior calls we get start the same way: the paint is peeling on one side of the house and the homeowner wants it to look right again. When we walk it, we probe the sills, the corner boards, the fascia and the bottom course of siding with an awl. If the awl sinks in, paint is not the fix. That board has to come out, a new primed board has to go in, and only then is the wall ready for primer and two coats.
Plenty of painting crews cannot do that work, or cannot do it legally, so the rot gets caulked and painted over and shows up again in two winters. Our contractor license (MN Lic. #BC807049) means the carpentry is ours. It goes on the estimate as its own line, you see the cost before we start, and the paint job on top of it actually lasts.
How we work
- We walk every job with you and send a written estimate that lists the repairs as line items.
- Prep is most of the hours: wash, scrape, sand, repair, caulk, prime.
- Two finish coats, sprayed and back-brushed on siding, brushed on trim, cut clean at the edges.
- Furniture moved and covered inside, plants and decks covered outside, cleanup every day.
- A final walkthrough with you before the trailer leaves. What you point at gets touched up that day.
