Why the paint lastsPaint fails from the wood out
A Minnesota exterior takes freeze and thaw, wind-driven rain and a summer sun that cooks the south wall. When paint peels it is almost always the board underneath: a sill that held water, a corner board that split, fascia that was never back-primed. A painter who only paints will caulk over it and move on.
We hold a residential building contractor license, so the same crew that paints your house can replace the rotten trim, patch the siding and re-hang a soffit. Then it gets primed, and then it gets two coats.

Walkthrough
We look at every elevation and every room with you, probe the trim, and send a written estimate that lists repairs as line items.
Repair and prime
Wash, scrape, sand, replace what is rotten, caulk, and prime bare wood. This is most of the hours on a Cedar Tone job.
Two coats
Premium paint or stain, sprayed and back-brushed on siding, brushed on trim, cut clean at every edge.
Final walk
We walk the house with you before we load the trailer. Anything you point at gets touched up that day.

Our shop sits on the Wright and Hennepin county line. Most of our exterior jobs are within a half hour: the lake homes around Delano and Buffalo, the 1990s two-stories in Maple Grove and Rogers, and the newer neighborhoods in St. Michael, Albertville and Otsego.

Do you replace rotten wood, or just paint over it?
We replace it. Cedar Tone holds a Minnesota residential building contractor license, so trim, fascia, soffit, siding boards and deck boards get cut out and replaced by our own crew before priming and painting. Repairs are written into the estimate as line items, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
When is exterior painting season in Minnesota?
Roughly May through mid-October, depending on the year. Paint needs the surface and the overnight air to stay above about 50 degrees to cure properly. We book exteriors in the order estimates are approved, and we paint interiors, cabinets and trim all winter.
Can you match the color that is on the house now?
Yes. We pull a chip from an inconspicuous spot and have it matched, or we bring a fan deck to the walkthrough and help you pick something new. One homeowner on our Google profile wrote that the match on her exterior came out identical to the old color.
Where do you work?
Our shop is in Rockford, on the Wright and Hennepin county line. Most jobs are within about a half hour: Greenfield, Delano, Buffalo, Corcoran, Medina, Rogers, St. Michael, Albertville, Otsego, Maple Grove, Plymouth and Monticello. If you are a little farther out, ask.
